As part of our expanding sustainability initiatives, we are currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Recycling Operative to join our environmentally driven operations team.
About the Role
As a Recycling Operative, you will play a key role in our asset recovery and recycling processes. Working alongside our wider warehouse and engineering teams, you’ll help ensure that retired telecom equipment is processed efficiently, responsibly, and in full alignment with our environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify components suitable for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
- Manually dismantle telecom devices, safely removing batteries, trays, circuit boards, and plastics.
- Sort materials by category (e.g., metals, plastics, PCBs, batteries).
- Follow procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous components (e.g., lithium-ion batteries).
- Adhere strictly to PPE, ESD safety protocols, and health & safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free workstation in line with 5S standards.
- Use basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, cutters) with confidence and care.
- Handle telecom equipment with appropriate care based on condition and sensitivity.
- Label recycling bins and materials clearly and consistently.
- Log disposal data and component transfer accurately using stock tracking systems.
- Use handheld scanners and barcode systems for item tracking.
- Proficient use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar software.
- Achieve 98%+ stock accuracy in monthly audits through consistent and accurate data entry.
- Understand and apply grading standards (Grade A, B, C) during inspection.
- Update system records based on testing, grading results, and accessory inclusion.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse, refurbishment, and logistics teams.
- Follow company procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills & Experience
- Basic IT and data entry proficiency.
- Familiarity with telecom equipment and refurbishment workflows.
- Understanding of ESD safety and handling procedures for sensitive electronics.
- Experience in a recycling, warehouse, or production environment preferred.
- Able to lift and manually handle equipment repetitively and safely (manual handling training desirable).
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team

- Stock data accuracy: ≥98% per audit cycle.
- Adherence to safety and clean area standards.
- Efficient dismantling rate and correct material segregation.

Working Pattern:
Monday – Friday, 8.00am – 4.45pm, 40hr week
